TUTORIAL NO. 1 |
This tutorial is about how to download and use the NetScape Navigator
browser. NetScape Corporation has developed many versions of its browser
for downloading on many types of computer platforms such as IBM PC's, MacIntosh,
UNIX, and the SUN Microsystems JAVA applications. When you arrive at the
NetScape Web site, be sure to read the download and installation instructions
carefully, so that you obtain the compatible version x.xx of NetScape
for your computer. For example, 486 machines take a 16 bit version.
Pentinum machines take a 32 bit version. For starters, I recommend downloading
version 2.02, because version 3.0 takes a long time to download even
with a 28.8 bpm modem. Once you have successfully downloaded and installed
NetScape, you need to install the correct version of winsock.dll files to
make NetScape compatible with your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Also
you must create your preferences and e-mail protocols. I suggest contacting
your ISP technical support group to find out what you need to do, because
it is different with each ISP.
You may ask--Why download NetScape and not some other browser? Good question. The answer is that NetScape is used by most people and their companies in their profession and business as the primary web browser. In addition, you can view some of the latest versions of HTML Extensions as well as JAVA Scripts with NetScape, which other browsers may not support. Enough said. I suggest downloading NetScape Now. When you finished downloading and installing NetScape, then return to the menu page and start tutorial no. 2.
